What happens in a coaching conversation?
Coaching provides a confidential space to step back from the demands of ministry, reflect on what is happening, and think carefully about the way forward.
1. Bring what's on your mind
You don't need to arrive with a clearly defined goal or a list of questions.
You might be dealing with a difficult relationship, navigating conflict, carrying a heavy leadership responsibility, facing an important decision, feeling stuck, or simply wondering what comes next.
We begin with whatever is most important to you at the time.
2. Step back and think
Ministry leadership can make it difficult to find the space to think clearly. Coaching gives you an opportunity to pause and look at your situation from a little distance.
Together, we'll explore what's happening, what you're noticing, what you may be assuming, and what might be getting in the way.
I'll listen, ask questions and help you reflect. I won't come with a ready-made answer or tell you what you should do. The aim is to help you gain perspective and see your situation more clearly.
3. Find a way forward
As the conversation develops, you may begin to see things differently, recognise what needs attention, or identify possibilities that weren't obvious at first.
We'll consider what a constructive next step might look like for you — one that fits your circumstances, values and sense of calling.
You leave the conversation with greater clarity about what matters and, where appropriate, a practical step you can take.
A conversation, not a formula
Every coaching conversation is different. Sometimes you may need to work through a specific leadership challenge. At other times, you may simply need the opportunity to stop, reflect and make sense of a season of ministry.
The goal isn't to have all the answers. It's to help you think well, lead thoughtfully and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
If you would like to try coaching
I offer a no obligation free taster coaching session.
There's no pressure to continue. The complimentary session provides you an opportunity to experience coaching , talk through what's happening in your current season of ministry and decide whether continuing would be helpful.
Then if you decide after the introductory conversations that coaching would be helpful, we can discuss an ongoing rhythm that works for you.
Wherever you’re based in the world we can connect.
Sessions are held either In Person, or Online via Zoom or Google Meet, and both options can be scheduled when is mutually convenient (opt out at any time).
Pro bono coaching for pastors and ministry leaders
I recognise that not every pastor or ministry leader has the budget available for professional coaching.
As part of my commitment to supporting people in ministry, I make a number of pro bono coaching places available for pastors and ministry leaders who would benefit from coaching but may not be in a position to pay for it.
Please reach out to me directly via the contact options.
Coaching is not about being given answers, but about helping you think clearly and find the right way forward for your situation
