Just Do It – moments

Have you ever actually thought yourself out of doing something? That is you really wanted to do something but after you started to think about it, you second guess yourself and the end result equalled no action at all.

I love this guy in the Bible called Peter from the time he thought about an action until the time he stepped out and did it was a pretty short interval.

The passage about Peter walking on the water is a classic

Matthew 14:22-33
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

Peter didn’t debate it with the others in the boat “should I or shouldn’t I” or “has anyone ever walked on water before” no the thought in his head was JUST DO IT” and we are glad he did otherwise the moment would have been lost.

The Day of Pentecost is another classic JUST DO IT MOMENT, after the Holy Spirit fell on the disciples in ACTS 2, they could have decided “let’s stay in the upper room and experience more” or “before we share this experience we need to analyse it, scrutinise it, rationalise it, then draw up some theology around it all, then just maybe share what’s happenedbut not Peter, this was a JUST DO IT MOMENT for him. Acts 2:14 (NIV)
14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say”.  The result 3,000 were saved and the New Testament Church was born into an atmosphere of faith and power.

We all need to take hold of more JUST DO IT MOMENTS in our lives, that’s where the miraculous meets the natural, and get some Holy Spirit adrenaline flowing.
