Heart of Worship

July 28, 2009

Worship means different things to different people.
But worship always has an outward manifestation and flows from the heart

C. S. Lewis wrote that “worship is inner health made audible. … ”

John 4: 23 TM “But the time is coming—it has, in fact, come—when what you’re called will not matter and where you go to worship will not matter. “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship.

This is a famous passage when it comes to worship, I love the way ‘The Message’ finishes the verse with being simply and honestly our selves in worship as opposed to trying to be religious and pious – worship is a unique experience.

King David as an example was very much himself as he worshiped God and proved that worship can come from a warrior and fighter a tough mans man yet be so attuned and sensitive to God.

David said – “I have seen your power and your glory in the place of worship”. Psalm 63:2 CEV
His personal revelation of God came through worship

Time spent before God is never wasted some of the greatest insights we will ever gain will come as we position ourselves as worshipers of HIM.
