Vision

VISION IS ………SOME THOUGHTS ON VISION

Vision is futuristic, – your preferred future or your feared future

“Men who see the invisible, hear the inaudible, believe the incredible, and think the unthinkable!” Plaque on 18th Century Church

” the word itself suggests, vision generally refers to that upon which individuals, families or members of an organization have “set their sights.” It could be seen as a synonym for “overall goal.”—Complete Book of Everyday Christianity, The

Vision is what you believe will be your future

Vision is not necessarily based in current reality
Vision is not limited by current reality

Vision will give a positive picture and a negative picture of your future ( Job, – what I feared has come upon me )

Vision is like the 2 poles of a magnet it can attract you towards it or repel you away from it.

Vision can lift you to new heights or hold you under a lid.

Not every vision is from God.

Painter’s Two Canvases
A certain painter is reputed to have always painted with two canvases before him—one above the other. On the upper one, which was always white, the artist imagined he saw the painting. It was his vision of what was to be. On the lower canvas he reproduced for others the picture which he already saw in his mind’s eye.

3 States of Vision

1. No Vision
Proverbs 29:17 – Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Job 15:11 – Job 15:13 (NLT) 11“Is God’s comfort too little for you? Is his gentle word not enough? 12What has captured your reason? What has weakened your vision, 13that you turn against God and say all these evil things?

2. A Negative Vision

Our negative visions can play a bigger role in our lives than our preferred positive visions – if we allow it.
Vision of unemployment or of an early death – etc………..

Psalms 6:6 – Psalms 6:7 (NLT)
6 I am worn out from sobbing.
Every night tears drench my bed;
my pillow is wet from weeping.
7 My vision is blurred by grief;
my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.

3. A Positive Vision

Proverbs 16:2 – Proverbs 16:3 (NLT)
Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed.
Psalm 138:8
The LORD will work out his plans for my life—

Map On William Carey’s Wall
In the 1700′s a little man in England, a cobbler by trade, who kept a map of the world on a wall of his workshop so that he could pray for the nations of the world, became burdened for a definite missionary outreach. When he shared his burden at a meeting of ministers, he was told by one of the senior men of God: “Young man, sit down. When God wants to convert the heathen, He will do it without your help or mine.”
But William Carey did not let the fire of his enthusiasm be dampened by such a response, and eventually he left the shores of England for those of India, where he engaged in pioneer missionary work, doing exploits for God.
